WHAT A GREAT WEEK ITS BEEN!

Not only has the sun been shining but Cusqueña was the exclusive beer at the
GQ awards last week and we were all over the papers because of it!

Chief culprit was Jamie Oliver who was pictured in The Sun carrying a
bottle of our beautiful pure lager. Jamie seemed to be having a really
good time; he had just won chef of the year and we're sure we made his
night by telling him we loved his Thai Green curry.

As well as Mr. Oliver, also spotted on the CUS-KEN-YA…Justin Timberlake,
Juliette Lewis, Lilly Allen, Sadie Frost and hundreds of other party goers!

Graham Norton and Billie Piper were also enjoying CUS-KEN-YA. We liked Graham before but we like him a lot more now! If you’d like to drink what the celebs can’t get enough of.

BRISTOL AND BATH

As well as heading down to Brighton recently, we had a look at some other places beginning with ‘B’ and last week we headed off to Bristol and Bath.

Having never been to Bath before we loved it! It’s a cross between York and Edinburgh (except in Somerset).

People are quite friendly there too and wanted to list our beer which was good
as it was a long drive from Manchester.

Bristol seems like a great place too and they were equally chilled out. Some really
nice bars there. We’ll be in the following places soon so check us out!

We had quite a few recommendations come in from our bar request the other
week. We’d like a few more if possible. Any good recommendations will

WHO STOLE THE SUMMER?

We were having a lovely time basking in the hot weather, wearing flip-flops
to work, hanging out with our friends on school nights as though we were
living on the Costas and then someone turned the thermostat off and it
all stopped!

All of us in our office have now gone indoors & have been playing
our seriously addictive 'dodge the lime' game and have been watching ‘24’ constantly - we are all hooked on both!

In a tenuous link we’ve also spotted Jack Bauer aka the very nice Mr. Kiefer
Sutherland drinking Cusqueña in one of our trendy London hotels. Good
on you Kiefer.

Actually maybe Jack Bauer could find out in an action packed 24 hours who the heck
stole our summer?!

LAS CHICAS Y CERVEZA

A couple of weeks ago we were on Five Live talking about girls and beer.
Lots more ladies seem to be drinking bottled lager these days and we’ve certainly had many drinking Cusqueña.

When we first started selling Cusqueña (from the back of our cars!) in the UK, we noticed how many of the finer sex were actually drinking our beer.

It genuinely surprised us but then girls do have sophisticated taste.

On the wireless we were asked why we think this is happening? We said we think it’s because lagers such as ours, are light and not gassy but with good depth and flavour for the female palate.

We also think ladies are a little bit cleverer than guys and are keen to spot a trend hence trendies such as Kate Moss, Lilly Allen and Mrs.Mangell all drinking Cusqueña.



The last one was a fib.

KNOCKOUT PUNCH

It’s all hotting up for us at CUS-KEN-YA. We’ve just been taken on by some of the biggest groups in the country making our fabulous beer available
in lots more places for you!

From starting from the back of a Punto two years ago (that we still deliver to a few from!), more and more bars and outlets are stocking the brew from Peru.

From Sept 7th we will be in hundreds of bars around the country thanks to Punch
Taverns, the UK’s biggest bar operator who supply lots of lovely bars including, Marmalade in Chorlton Manchester, Halo in Edinburgh & Funky Buddah in Brighton.

We’ve also got some good news coming on Threshers & Mitchells and Butlers

Pure describes the water we use to make our beer from. It is this pure
water that makes it taste so fresh and crisp. This may have something
to do with it coming from melt water at a dizzy 18,000 feet in the Andes.

all been out on a few holidays by the sea and seen more and more people

culture - Peruvian Food

Culture
vultures that we are this week - it must be the heat – we’d now like to
tell you about Peruvian food!

When we went to Peru the food there really was unexpectedly great. Some
of the best in Latin America actually (we stayed off the Guinea pig)!

Seafood is really very popular and matches fantastically with Cusqueña.
One such dish is Cerviche and is absolutely great. You don't have to be
Gordon Ramsey to cook it. In fact, you don't have to be Madge Ramsey!

Wow!
What a thirsty and very sociable little country we have here.

Due to the fantastic weather we’ve had recently, people have been ordering
Cusqueña left, right and indeed in the centre in the bars, hotels and
supermarkets.

The
fact that we genuinely bring our beer from source unlike some other ‘imported
beers’ (brewed in Wales, Scotland & Burton) means that we nearly sold
out last week but a ship laden with our award winning beer has just arrived!

World cup is over. Wimbledon is finished. Think there’s nothing to look forward to?!

Although we’re not getting a lot of it at the moment as it is nice and
hot outside, CUS-KEN-YA contains quite a lot of water. In fact, 90% of
the beer you drink is made of water, hence it’s kind of important where
it comes from!

You should therefore be quite pleased to know that Cusqueña is made using
the purest melt water from the tops of the Andes, a cool 18,000 feet up
to be rather precise. To be even more exact; that is 3,000 feet higher
than BA flies Manchester to London!

This
gives it an intensely crisp start & makes it ultra refreshing! It
also helps keep the hangovers at bay!

It
also means we won’t brew under license here like some others do as we
want to make sure you get the authentic product you would experience in
the country of origin.

been all over the papers recently.

that’s a fib - we’ve been in a few.

A
couple of weeks ago we were in the Daily Mail Live Night & Day who
said we were;

“Light
on bubbles but full of flavour – no piece of lime needed!” - You’re right
Live Night & Day! Keep your citrus fruit in your cocktails or Thai
currys.

We were also in The Sunday Times Style magazine last week. They picked
us out with 8 other beers that match perfectly with food. Cusqueña apparently
went well with Spanish, Italian and Thai and they said Cusqueña is “Crisp,
pure and very flavoursome.” Pretty good hey?

Better
still was Sainsbury’s Food magazine called ‘Fresh Ideas’. They said; “Cusqueña
is one of the hot contenders for the crown of coolest drinks of the summer.”

So
Zidane lost it and Italy won it. We all thought it was a pretty boring
World Cup Final really. Wasn’t really the spectacle the tournament deserved
which was put on rather brilliantly by the Germans.

We
asked you to don Mystic Meg glasses to predict a winner from the final
16 and despite having thousands of entrants only 3 people got it right!!

It
seems those glasses were obviously misty and not mystic.

were patriotic and went for Mr Burns’ England, however over 65% of all
answers were for Argentina.

This
included an unfortunate guy named Nick Harman who’s Argentina entry not

lost a whole load more. His story below made us feel so gutted for him
(as well as chortle a little) that we are giving him a case anyway to
get over this nasty result!

We’re not so well in our office.

Why?

we’ve got World Cup fever!

Anyway
lots of world cup references and a chance to win some beer for footy predictions
are the order of this week it seems….

THIRST CUP

Well it's more than half way through the World Cup and as football fever
has gripped the country people also seem to have been very, very thirsty
for our award winning pure lager from Peru.

Apart
from helping people NOT to wake-up with banging heads because there aren’t
any nasty impurities in our beer (which is kind of cool), Cusqueña is
the most fabulously quaffable beer for summer and has become a popular
accompaniment to the general summer merriment.

stuff.

As
we mentioned a couple of weeks ago, Selfridges have Cusqueña listed as
their official beer of the world cup in their Football Lounge. The good
people of London have drunk them dry!

As
a result of all you thirsty people, we have had to send off for even more
ships full of our beautiful beer quick sharp.

TASTE OF LONDON

Apart from enjoying more than our fair share of Germany 2006 (office favorites
are Argentina or Spain),we have been very busy letting lots more people
taste our lovely crisp refreshing lager.

Last
weekend we spent our time in a nice star shaped tent at Regents Park at
the Taste of London food and drink show where we had four days of glorious
sunshine, 40,000 people and lots of ice-cold Cusqueña.

Needless
to say it went down faster than the Poseidon.

We
all worked behind the bar and whilst it was hard work keeping up with
everyone’s demands for Cusqueña all day, at least we managed to squeeze
a massive 5 hours sleep in per night in our 5* luxury, mould ridden tents.
Lovely.

We
were asked by lots of people where they can get the beer so apart from

look out for four packs in Sainsbury's, Tesco and Asda.

Hopefully Waitrose will also be added to the list soon as we’ve just met
a top guy called “Steve” this week who seems to like our beer and will

in our beer.

We
think putting fruit in lager is something that only Mums and Dads did
in the seventies or that people should only do if they are slightly worried
about their lack of Vitamin C.

Due
to being a brewery set up by German guys and brewed to the high German
standards with lots of good natural ingredients, CUS-KEN-YA has a fantastic
flavour so there is no need to enhance it with a piece of fruit.

Therefore,
unless you are worried about scurvy, enjoy an ice cold fruit free Cusqueña
this weekend and squeeze your citrus fruit in a nice Thai curry for a
loved one.

are all well and have had a fab week (apart from Kieron who is now suffering

BIG
LOVE AT BBC GOOD FOOD!

Last
week we took Cusquena to the BBC Summer Good Food show in Birmingham which
was absolutely brilliant.

Despite
us being there during what seemed like a Peruvian rainy season, everyone
was still keen to try a nice ice cold CUS-KEN-YA.

Along
with lots of lovely people who came to see us saying they loved Cusqueña
( including Jimmy from Jimmy’s farm!) was George Philliskirk CEO of The
Beer Academy (very knowledgeable beer people) who told the audience he
thought CUS-KEN-YA was “very crisp and refreshing, really lovely and perfect
for summer.”

Good
job it’s cracking the flags outside then eh?

Due
to all this we ran out of beer and tried to leave early but a Peter Kay
Health & Safety type wouldn’t let us go.

Still
it gave us a chance to visit some other people including the nice folks
from Devon at BURTS chips and eat a lot whilst we waited! They were great
plus they do this really nice SALSA as well - definitely recommended!

Apparently
we are “great compared to watery Mexican beer”, we’re “great lager to
go with Barbecues” (not char grilling though), and just “great”. Very
nice of them to say so too.

SAINSBURY’S
LOVE

Sainsbury’s
were the first supermarket to take on our beer so we like them a lot.
Ben & Guy who work there are also very nice people. Both of them love
Cusqueña and have a penchant for yummy Burgers in a restaurant just round
the corner from their office.

Anyway

SHIP AHOY!

Due to amazing demand for CUS-KEN-YA across all our bars and supermarkets and the fact that we genuinely bring our beer from source (unlike some other ‘imported beers’), we nearly sold out last week!

Coupled with this it seems someone of the ilk of Uncle Albert was skippering our next boat load as they got our ship stuck in Jamaica!

Still, it’s here now and your summer plans can be put back on track as “The World’s Best Beer” (said by many people!) is back in town!
